This QTL determines tasting of quinine sulphate. Strong aversion is seen in 129/Sv; strong alternate day aversion in C57BL/6; little aversion in A2G, DBA/2 and BALB/c. Bitterness tasting QTL, Cyx and Rua, are also on Chr 6 and linked to Prh1 (proline rich salivary protein), which may be a candidate.
