Under high-fat diet feeding conditions, male mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit increased susceptibility to diet-induced obesity, with lower metabolic rates, more severe glucose intolerance and insulin resistance, and increased white adipose tissue inflammation and apoptosis.
