Homozygous null mutations cause embryonic lethality. Heterozygotes for a null allele show partial perinatal lethality and impaired placental transport. Heterozygotes for a gene trap allele show abnormal brain wave patterns, increased startle reflex, reduced prepulse inhibition and increased anxiety.
