Mice homozygous for a null allele exhibit embryonic lethality at approximately E9.5 and show placental abnormalities. Mouse embryonic fibroblasts from mice heterozygous for Vps4a and Vps4b null alleles exhibit increased endo/lysosomal organelles with large multi-membrane structures.
