Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele show loss of glutamatergic autoreceptors, augmented excitatory synaptic transmission, hyperactivity, anxiety- and compulsivity-like behaviors, impaired sociability, and increased susceptibility to audiogenic and pharmacologically-induced seizures.
