Homozygous mutations cause stunted growth, high lysosomal enzyme levels, skeletal defects, retinal degeneration and secretory cell lesions. Homozygotes for an ENU allele show skeletal and facial defects, altered enzymatic activities, lysosomal storage, Purkinje cell loss, ataxia and premature death.
