Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit severely reduced fertility; about one-half develop a transplantable disease characterized by anomalies in spleen, bone marrow, and peripheral blood and including anemia and various symptoms typical of myeloid dysplasia or myeloid proliferation.
