Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele show reduced body size, aberrant insulin granule exocytosis, and impaired secretion of hormones associated with glucose homeostasis. Mice homozygous for another knock-out allele show a slightly reduced body size, abnormal maternal behavior and premature death.
