Nullizygous mutations can cause neonatal or postnatal lethality associated with severe skin inflammation, high mast cell numbers and serum levels of IgE and histamine, and enhanced mast cell degranulation and release of mediators and cytokines in response to high affinity IgE receptor aggregation.
