Glossary Term Transgenic mouse
Definition A mouse that contains stably inherited DNA which has been inserted randomly into the genome. The inserted gene sequence (the transgene) may or may not be derived from mouse sequence. Since the creation of knock-in/ knock-out mice involves directed homologous recombination, at MGI, they are not considered to be transgenic.
