Tg(Col2a1-cre/ERT)KA3Smac - Integumental System
Recombinase Activity Detail
Allele Information
Allele:
Tg(Col2a1-cre/ERT)KA3Smac
transgene insertion KA3, Susan Mackem
Driver: Col2a1
Type: Transgenic (Inducible, Recombinase)
Inducer: tamoxifen
Synonym: Col2CreERT, Tg(Col2a1-cre/ESR1)1Smac, Tg(Col2a1-cre/ESR1)KA3Smac
Molecular description: This transgene expresses a tamoxifen-inducible form of cre recombinase driven by the Col2a1 promoter in cartilage. The cre recombinase coding region is joined to a sequence encoding the ligand-binding domain of the human estrogen receptor with glycine to arginine missense mutation at position 521. This substitution enables the domain to bind to tamoxifen while ablating the estradiol binding ability.
