Molecular description: A 1.0 kb fragment encoding cre recombinase was placed between nucleotides -596 to +21 of the rat Fabp1 and nucleotides +3 to +2150 of the human growth hormone gene (hGH; GH1). The purified fragment and injected into FVB/N oocytes. RNase protection assays in 8-week old mice demonstrated cre mRNA expression levels in small intestine (high in proximal half, lower in distal portion) and cecum (moderate) with barely detectable levels in the colon. Expression was also detected in the liver.
