Molecular description: The Tas2r131 coding region was replaced with an expression cassette encoding the barley lectin (BL) sequence linked through an internal ribosome entry cassette to the cre recombinase sequence. Both flag and c-myc epitopes (for differential transsynaptic tracing) were inserted into the BL sequence at positions 79 and 597. An AFN (tACE-Flpe/NEOr) neomycin selection cassette, flanked by FRT sites was also inserted. The neomycin selection cassette was removed by crossing to Flpe-deleter. This allele is a Tas2r131 null and produces a bicistronic transcript BL and cre from the Tas2r131 promoter.
