Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit background sensitive lethality, abnormal forebrain development, abnormal female reproductive organs and decreased litter size. Mice homozygous for a different knock-out allele exhibit impaired adult neurogenesis, impaired spatial learning and impaired short-term memory retention.
