Homozygous null mice obtained on a coisogenic 129S1 background die early in embryogenesis while those on a mixed 129S1/B6 background are born at a slightly reduced frequency. On a congenic C57BL/6 background, homozygotes display neonatal lethality, impaired suckling and female behavioral anosmia.
