Homo- or heterozygous KO in mice also carrying one copy of the ApcMin allele leads to increased intestinal adenoma and adenocarcinoma tumor incidence and size. This double mutation and homozygous KO of the gene alone results in lower internal mitochondrial cristae density in small intestinal mucosal epithelium.
