Homozygotes for a null allele show partial postnatal lethality, reduced body weight, ataxia, and alterations in lipid metabolism and photoreceptor cell development. Homozygotes for a different null allele show a leaky blood-brain barrier and increased CNS-endothelial-cell vesicular transcytosis.
