Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit reduced male fertility associated with decreased testis size, oligozoospermia, impaired spermatogenesis, spermatocyte apoptosis, and multiple defects during meiosis prophase I, including inter-sister synapsis and impaired crossover formation. Female fertility is normal.
