Notes |
A C57BL/6 substrain exposed to low-level irradiation gave rise to this mutation (J:13416)(J:13137). Homozygotes are black-eyed white, anemic, and may survive up to one year. Males are sterile, but an occasional female may have one litter. Heterozygotes have diluted coat color and are otherwise normal. Gastrointestinal bleeding in homozygotes may cause them to lose about 3.5% of their blood volume daily (J:5009).
