Notes |
Homozygous mutant mice have anterior homeotic transformations of cervical vertebrae I and II, the atlas and axis vertebrae. The atlas is fused with the skull, while the axis is altered to an "atlas-like" conformation (J:15678). Although null mutations of Hoxd3 and its paralog, Hoxa3, cause no defects in common, they interact in double mutant mice, the atlas being completely deleted (J:19447).
