Studies have shown that Myf6 may regulate Myf5 expression by a cis-acting mechanism and that the skeletal abnormalities seen in Myf6 homozygotes may result from a decrease or lack of Myf5 expression. This allele (Myf6tm1Eno) does not display reduced expression of Myf5 and thus may exhibit the true Myf6 null phenotype unlike other Myf6 alleles that may have phenotypes resulting from the reduction or lack of Myf5 (J:26105, J:42453).
