Mutation details: J1 ES cells were infected with mp10 virus carrying a neomycin resistance gene. After selection, resistant ES cell colonies were analyzed for the presence of single-copy proviral DNA. A mouse line established from one of these cell lines was shown to have an insertion in intron 1 2kb downstream of exon 1. The insertion affects the transcription level of the gene as demonstrated by Northern blotting experiments.
