Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:66987

C57BL/6J are sensitive to salt induced hypertension whereas A/J are non-salt-sensitive allowing for a genome wide scan for loci contributing to hypertension. 250 male mice from reciprocal backcrosses between (C57BL/6J x A/J)F1 x C57BL/6J were informativein mapping 6 blood pressure QTLs to 5 mouse Chromosomes. Bpq1 and Bpq2 had main effects and mapped with markers on mouse Chromosome 1. Bpq1 mapped with D1Mit334 with an F value of 8.2 and a P value of 0.0046. Bpq2 mapped with D1Mit14 with an F value of 10.3 and a P value of 0.0015. Suggested candidates for Bpq1 were Slc4a3 and Nppc. Suggested candidates for Bpq2 were Ptgs2, Atp1b1, Ren1 and Ren2.
