Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:71085

Genome scan was performed on 284 animals from a (NZB/BlNJ x C57BL/6By)F2 intercross to identify QTLs affecting cerebellar patterns and hindlimb coordination. 65 polymorphic markers were typed at an average spacing of 22.5 cM. Progenitor strain NZB/BlNj exhibits a higher frequency of intraculminate, declival, and uvula fissures and a lower frequency of intracentral fissures than progenitor strain C57BL/6By, and also exhibits a greater number of hindpaw slips on a coordination test compared to C57BL/6By. Five QTLs associated with declival fissures mapped to mouse Chromosome 1 from 80 cM - 110 cM (Cpfd1, LOD = 4.51 at D1Mit14) and 54 cM - 96 cM (Cpfd2, LOD = 4.74 at D1Mit17), mouse Chromosome 5 from 45 cM - 75 cM (Cpfd3, LOD = 3.59 at D5Mit10), mouse Chromosome 9 from 25 cM - 40 cM (Cpfd4, LOD = 4.32 at D9Mit26), and mouse Chromosome 13 from 10 cM - 38 cM (Cpfd5, LOD = 3.5 at D13Mit13). Possible candidate genes are as follows: Cpfd3 maps near Cfp2, Cpfd4 maps near Rora (sg), and Cpfd5 maps near Sca1 and pcd. A QTL associated with hindlimb slips, Tne1 (total number errors, hindlimb coordination test 1), maps to mouse Chromosome 1 with a LOD score of 6 at D1Mit14. Tne1 spans 85 cM - 110 cM and is linked to Cpfd1 and Cpfd2.
