Notes |
This is a susceptibility allele (J:43978). Theiler's murine encephalomyelitis virus (TMEV), introduced into the central nervous system (CNS), causes CNS demyelination. The H2-D1 region and at least two non-H2 loci are involved: Tmevd1 on Chr 6, and this second locus, Tmevd2, which has been localized on Chr 3 using the susceptible DBA/2 and resistant C57BL/6 strains and the BXD recombinant inbred strain panel (J:10200).
Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:43978The segregation of genes that may contribute to the susceptibility of Theilers murine encephalomyelitis in mice were analyzed in (BALB/cByJ x DBA/2J)F1 x BALB/cByJ and DBA/2J backcross progeny using microsatellites from Chromosomes 3, 6 and 17. Significant association of Tmevd2 with mouse Chromosome 3 marker D3Mit156 was observed. The authors indicated that Tmevd2 mapped 1.1 cM proximal of D3Mit101. The authors hypothesize that Tmevd2 and mouse Eae3 may in fact be the same locus. |
