Cms1C57BL/6J
QTL Variant Detail
Summary
QTL variant: Cms1C57BL/6J
Name: resistance to Coccidioides immitis 1; C57BL/6J
MGI ID: MGI:2155783
QTL: Cms1  Location: Chr4:62427406-62438155 bp  Genetic Position: Chr4, Syntenic
Variant
origin
Strain of Specimen:  C57BL/6J
Variant
description
Allele Type:    QTL
Mutation:    Undefined
This allele confers susceptibility to Coccidioides immitis infection compared to DBA/2J.
Inheritance:    Not Specified
Notes
Cms1C57BL/6J/Cms1DBA/2J heterozygotes are resistant. It is not known whether intermediate susceptibility is due to a third allele of Cms1 or to modifying genes. Males are more susceptible than females, although Cms1 is not X-linked (J:7871).

Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:55132

DBA/2J mice are more resistant to Coccidioides immitis infection then are C57BL/6J mice allowing for the genetic mapping of genes that determine resistance. The BXD RI line was informative to map genes to mouse Chromosomes 4 and 6. One gene was designated as Cms1 and showed a significant association with mouse Chromosome 4 marker Alad the other gene Cms2 was associated with Tnfrsf1a on mouse Chromosome 6. Moreover (DBA/2J x C57BL/6J) F1 x C57BL/6J backcross progeny that carried the DBA/2J allele at either Tnfrsf1a or Alad exhibited a higher resistant phenotype then mice that carried the C57BL/6J allele.
