Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:50271841 male mice 56-125 days of ages from 20 BXD/Ty RI strains were used to map QTLs associated with ethanol-induced conditioned taste aversion behavior. Inbred strain DBA/2J exhibits increased sensitivity to ethanol compared to C57BL/6J and decreases consumption of an ethanol-paired distinctive taste (ethanol-induced taste aversion) in a dose dependent manner. Saccharin solution drinking water was used as the paired taste in this study. Etohcta5 (P<0.01) mapped to a region on Chromosome 4 spanning 75.9 cM - 94.1 cM in linkage with D4Ncvs25 (83 cM) and D4Ncvs97 (82 cM). Etohcta5 is associated with ethanol-induced taste aversion at both high and low doses of ethanol injection following the paired taste. Potential candidate genes near Etohcta5 include the delta-opioid receptor gene, Oprd1 (64.8 cM), and the 5-HT1D receptor gene, Htr1d (66 cM). Taste4 (P<0.01 at Ela1-ps) mapped to a region on Chromosome 4 spanning 66.1 cM - 82.5 cM and is associated with saccharin preference. The saccharin preference gene, Sac (Tas1r3), at 83 cM on Chromosome 4 may be responsible for the Taste4 QTL. |
