The congenic strain B6.C-H18c/By is susceptible to M. pulmonis infection whereas the congenic background progenitor C57BL/6J is resistant. This difference in resistance suggest that a susceptibly/resistant QTL, Mpq cosegregated within the congenic segment containing the H18 locus from susceptible strain BALB/c/By.
