Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:53494Significant strain differences in several of the estradiol-regulated uterotropic responses have been observed suggesting that they may be genetically controlled. In this study, the authors chacterized the nature of the major leukocyte infiltrates in the uteri of adult ovariectomized, estradiol-treated mice. C57Bl/6J and (C57BL/6J x C3H/HeJ)F1 mice responded with greater numbers of infiltrating eosinophils and BM8+ macrophages as compared with C3H/HeJ mice. In contrast estradiol treatment either down-regulates or does not affect the number of CD4+ or Ia+ cells in the uteri of all three strains. Genome exculsion mapping using a [(C57BL/6J x C3H/HeJ)F1 x C3H/HeJ} backcross was carried out to map the loci controling the number of infiltrating eosinophils into the uterus. Significant linkage was observed with the markers D4Mit237 (t score = 4.06 P = 0.00005) , D4Mit183 (t score = 4.06, P = 0.00005) and D4Mit21 (t score = 3.89, P = 0.00009). This locus has been designated as Estq1. The highest number of infiltrating eosinophils were seen with mice having the C57BL/6J allele at D4Mit237 and D10Mit180 but are homozygous for C3H/HeJ at D16Mit144. |
