Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:48305

Outbred SENCARA/Pt mice are susceptible to the development of skin papillomas whereas BALB/cAnPt mice are highly resistant. In an attempt to find loci contributing to the susceptibile/resistant phenotype, 81 N2 progeny from a (BALB/cAnPt x SENCARA/Pt)F1 x SENCARA/Pt backcross were analyzed in a genome wide scan using 89 microsatellite markers. Using quantitative trait analysis, Skts4 was mapped to mouse Chromosome 5 in a 21 cM interval between D5Mit259 and D5Mit369 (peak = D5Mit188, LOD of 3.75). Suggestive associations were also found with markers on Chromosomes 9, 11 and 12.
