Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:69759

Three separate crosses [(B6HuBTg x 129)F2 (HuBTg=human apoB transgene on mouse Chromosome 10), N2B6 backcross, and N2/129 backcross] were used to map QTLs involved in plasma apoB levels in male and female mice 8 and 12 weeks of age. Plasma apoB levels are significantly lower in 129/Sv animals and F1 HuBTg animals compared to C57BL/6J. Pabr1 was mapped to chromosomes 6 with a peak LOD score at D6Mit55 (LOD = 14-16, depending on age) and appears to be inherited in a codominant fashion in males (129/Sv allele dominant in females). Pabr1 spans 8.8 cM from D6Mit64 to D6Mit339. Positional candidate genes in the region (Sec13r, Pparg, and Apobec1) were examined and yielded negative results. There is evidence of epistasis between Pabr1 and another mapped locus,Pabr2, on mouse Chromosome 4.
