Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:68404

A further refinement of the skin cancer modifier locus Skts1 was conducted in 245 F2 intercross mice derived from outbred mouse strains Car-R and Car-S. Car-R mice are resistant to skin carcinoma whereas Car-S are susceptible. The cross was informative in narrowing the linkage region of Skts1 to approximately 5.5 cMs. A peak of significant linkage was found with markers M-04814 and M-00295. Tyr was included in the interval. Possible candidates for the Skts1 phenotype include Sh3d2c2 and Fzd4. In addition Marker M-00973 was located upstream of M-04814.

04.28.2015 - Curators Note: Because Skts1 was originally mapped in J:27733 in 1995 using an (NIH/Ola female x M. spretus male)F1 x NIH/Ola backcross, which differs from the cross used here, we consider the current study a separate mapping experiment and have named this QTL Skts16.
