Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:32208

Quantitative trait loci (QTLs) effecting age specific body growth rates in mice were mapped using 535 F2 intercross mice from a (LG/J x SM/J)F1 cross. LG/J mice exhibit a large size at 60 days of age whereas SM/J exhibit a Small size. QTLs on 16 of 19 autosomes effective age specific growth was detected in a genome wide scan using microsatellite markers. QTL marker Bgeq5 was associated with early growth rate and mapped to mouse Chromosome 7 near D7Nds1 and Bgeq6 near D7Nds4. A QTL marker Bglq6 was associated with late growth near D7Mit9.

Quantitative trait loci (QTLs) effecting age specific body growth rates in mice were mapped in a previous experiment using 535 F2 intercross mice from a (LG/J x SM/J)F1 cross (See J:32208). Here an additional 510 F2 mice were analyzed. LG/J mice exhibit a large size at 60 days of age whereas SM/J exhibit a small size. QTL markers Bgeq5 and Bglq6 were reaffirmed as mapping to mouse Chromosome 7.
