Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:62610

96 microsatellite markers were screened in 510 animals from a LG/J by SM/J F2 intercross to identify loci associated with adiposity, body weight, and tail length phenotypes. The LG/J inbred strain has a large body size and the SM/J inbred strain has a small body size. Linkage for adiposity was detected on mouse Chromosome 1 (Adip1, LPR = 2.99 at D1Mit3) from 4 cM - 16 cM, Chromosome 6 (Adip2, LPR = 6.23 at D6Nds5) from 74 cM - 88 cM, Chromosome 7 (Adip3, LPR = 9.88 at D7Mit148) from 48 cM - 54 cM, Chromosome 8 (Adip4, LPR = 3.8 at D8Mit25) from 14 cM - 40 cM, Chromosome 9 (Adip5, LPR = 1.84 at D9Mit8) from 38 cM - 76 cM, Chromosome 12 (Adip6, LPR = 3.78 at D12Mit6) from 48 cM - 58 cM, Chromosome 13 (Adip7, LPR = 1.9 at D13Mit1) from 0 cM - 30 cM, and Chromosome 18 (Adip8, LPR = 2.84 at D18Mit17) from 8 cM - 38 cM. LG/J-derived alleles contribute to higher adiposity except at Adip5 and Adip6 where LG/J-derived alleles contribute to lower adiposity. All adiposity QTLs are involved in epistatic interactions, and some adiposity QTLs show sex influence. Linkage for adult body weight was detected on mouse Chromosome 4 (Wta1, LPR = 2.35 at D4Mit2) from 0 cM - 30 cM, chromosome 6 (Wta2, LPR = 3.49 at D6Mit58) from 90 cM - 96 cM, Chromosome 14 (Wta3, LPR = 2.70 at D14Nds1) from 0 cM - 30 cM, and Chromosome 17 (Wta4, LPR = 2.44 at D17Mit16) from 14 cM - 42 cM. LG/J-derived alleles contribute to higher body weight at all body weight QTLs. Wta1-4 appear to interact additively and have pleiotropic effects. Some bodyweight QTLs show sex-specificity. Linkage for tail length (skeletal length) was detected on mouse Chromosome 1 (Skl1, LPR = 3.46 at D1Mit7) from 42 cM - 68 cM, Chromosome 2 (Skl2, LPR = 5.93 at D2Mit17) from 80 cM - 104 cM, Chromosome 6 (Skl3, LPR = 8.52 at D6Mit9) from 36 cM - 58 cM, Chromosome 10 (Skl4, LPR = 4.93 at D10Mit133) from 68 cM - 84 cM, Chromosome 11 (Skl5, LPR = 3.32 at D11Mit15) from 72 cM - 92 cM, Chromosome 13 (Skl6, LPR = 5.06 at D13Mit9) from 74 cM - 104 cM, and Chromosome 16 (Skl7, LPR = 3.7 at D16Mit2) from 0 cM - 24 cM. LG/J-derived alleles contribute to longer tails except at Adip6 and Skl7, and all tail length QTLs are involved in epistatic interactions.
