F2-intercross pedigree analysis of progeny from crosses between a single male of the outbred mouse line DU6 (selected for high body weight) and a DUKs female (a randomly mated control line) was used to map quantitative trait loci (QTL). A QTL linked with abdominal fat weight, Afw4, was placed at 29 cM on mouse Chromosome 9. A QTL linked with kidney weight, Kwq3, was placed at 44 cM.
