Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:68418

Genome wide scan was performed on 100 BALB/cAnNCr x (BALB/cAnNCr x C57BL/6NCr)F1 backcross animals to map QTLs associated with UVB radiation-induced immunosuppression. Parental strains BALB/cAnNCr exhibits low susceptibility to immunosuppression whereas parental strain C57BL/6NCr exhibits high susceptibility to immunosuppression. Two significant QTLs, Uvbi1 and Uvbi2, were mapped to mouse Chromosome 10 at approximately 29 cM (P<0.05 at D10Mit70) and mouse Chromosome 17 at approximately 23.2 cM (P = 0.1 at D17Mit49). Uvbi1 is associated with decreased susceptibility to UVB radiation-induced immunosuppression while Uvbi2 is associated with increased susceptibility to UVB radiation-induced immunosuppression. Uvbi1 maps near Gp49b, the gene for a membrane glycoprotein which inhibits mast cell signaling and may be a candidate gene. Uvbi2 maps distal to the MHC complex.
