Candidate Genes
The correlation between gene expression and dietary interaction was examined in a population of (BALB/cStCrlfC3H/Nctr x VY/WffC3Hf/Nctr-A(vy)/a)F1 animals. A/a and A/Avy animals were placed on a 70% (calorie restricted) or 100% (non-restricted) diet andliver mRNA levels were assessed for over 18,000 genes using DNA microarrays. Twenty-eight known genes showing statistically significant differential expression between the 70% and 100% calorie diets and A/a and A/Avy genotypes mapped near known diabesity QTLs. These genes may be considered further for candidate genes. Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:68441Authors indicated that enhanced growth rate in C57BL/6J-Cish2hg/Cish2hg mice may be modulated by other genes associated with growth. 1132 F2 mice from a cross between (C57BL/6J-Cish2hg/Cish2hg X CAST/EiJ)F1's yielded 274 +/+ , 596 hg/+ and 262 hg/hg mice with the hg/hg used in a genome wide scan to find QTLs associated with growth rates. A total of 15 QTLs were mapped. QTLs for total weight gain (wg1 - wg4) mapped to mouse Chromosomes 2, 8, and 11, with wg1 and wg2 mapping to mouse chromosome 2.QTLS for total carcass protein (Carp1-Carp3) mapped to Chromosomes 2, 11 and 17. QTLs for total carcass ash weight (Cara1-Cara3) mapped to mouse Chromosomes 2, 11 and 17. QTLs for percent carcass fat (Carf1 and Carf2) mapped to mouse Chromosomes 5 and 9 and QTLS for femur length (Feml1-Feml3) mapped to mouse chromosomes 2, 9, and 17. |
