Mutation details: A targeting event resulted a neomycin resistance gene in reverse transcriptional orientation to the gene inserted into intron 8, followed by a truncated, promoterless Il11ra1 gene lacking exons 2-13. Northern blot experiments on RNA derived from kidney of homozygous mice demonstrated that an aberrant transcript was produced from this allele. It was a size consistent with the splicing around the neo cassette to produce a transcript that contains exon 1-8 fused to exons 2-13. Western blot analysis on kidney extracts confirmed that an aberrantly sized protein was expressed from this allele.
