Mutation
description
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout)
Mutations:    Insertion, Intragenic deletion

Mutation detailsA neomycin selection cassette replaced a portion of exon 8, all of exon 9, and a portion of exon 10. The deleted region encodes the Kunitz domains that impart serine proteinase inhibitor activity in bikunin. Western blot analysis of plasma from homozygous mutant mice showed an absence of the two forms of the encoded protein (220kDa and 120kDa) that were present in wild-type mice. (J:68118)
