Mutation
description
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout)
Mutation:    Intragenic deletion

Mutation detailsThis allele was generated by breeding mice heterozygous for Bacetm1Slr and transgenic mice constituitively expressing FLP recombinase. Exons 4 through 8 as well as the neomycin selection cassette and the FLP recombinase target (FRT) sites flanking it were excised. The deleted exons encoded two active site aspartate residues. One FRT site remained in intron 8. Beta-secretase activity was undetected in extracts of cortical cell cultures derived from homozygous mutant animals. (J:77414)
