Mutation details: The exon encoding N-terminal residues 82-118 was replaced with a neomycin resistance gene via homologous recombination. Western blot analysis of brain membrane fractions from homozygous mutant animals did not detect protein product. Whole cell voltage clamp analysis of thalamocortical relay neurons from homozygous mutants detected no calcium current thus confirming the functional ablation of the protein.
