Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:76126

76 polymorphic microsatellite markers at an average distance of 27.5 cM were screened in 535 (SM/J x LG/J)F2 animals to identify QTLs associated with tooth development. Parental inbred strain LG/J exhibits larger body size compared to SM/J. QTLs affecting tooth central size (Tcsz1, Tcsz2) and tooth shape (Tshp7, Tshp8) were mapped to mouse Chromosome 7. The Tcsz1 interval spans 0.5 cM - 37 cM and the Tcsz2 interval spans 54 cM - 60 cM on chromosome 7. Both tooth size QTLs exceed the P<0.001 significance threshold of LOD=4.004. Tcsz1 and Tcsz2 exhibit additive inheritance where LG-J-derived alleles contribute to increased tooth size. The QTL intervals of Tshp7 and Tshp8 span 37 cM - 51.41 cM and 44 cM - 51.41 cM, respectively. Both Tshp7 and Tsph8 exceed the P<0.001 significance threshold of LOD=4.185.
