Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:73060Composite interval mapping (CIM) was used for localization of QTL involved in modulating response to infection with Borrelia burgdorferi. Parental strains C3H/HeN and C3H/HeJ are susceptible to B.burgdorferi-induced arthritis whereas parental strains C57BL/6N and BALB/cAnN are resistant. Four different backcrosses and the reanalysis of a previous intercross were performed. In the (C3H/HeJ X BALB/cAnN)F1 X BALB/cAnN backcross a novel QTL, Bbaa14 linked to ankle swelling mapped to Chr 15 at 17.8 cm with marker D15Mit111, LRT=15.1 accounting for 11.9% of trait variance. [Table 2.]In the (C57BL/6N X C3H/HeJ)F1 X C57BL/6J backcross another Chr 15 QTL, linked to specific IgG, was also identified as Bbaa14. Since the two mapping populations differ curators named this QTL Bbaa31. Bbaa31 mapped from 15.6-18.8 cM between markers D15Mit24 and D15Mit154, LRT=18.3 accounting for 12.3% of variance. [Table 2.]In the reanalysis of the (C57BL/6N X C3H/HeN)F2 intercross a novel QTL, Bbaa22, linked to histopathology mapped to 46.9 cM with marker D15Mit24, LRT=19.8 accounting for 17.3% of variance. [Table 2.] C3H/HeN-derived alleles are associated with increased arthritis susceptibility and severity at all QTL mapped in this experiment. |
