Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Inserted expressed sequence)
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(CMV-IgkvaD11)ACat expresses 1 gene

Mutation detailsThe transgenic construct included a recombined Igk variable region encoding the light chain of the rat anti-nerve growth factor monoclonal antibody, alphaD11. The human immunoglobulin kappa constant region (IGKC) was included downstream to enable the detection of the transgenic antibodies against murine immunoglobulins. The early region promoter (-601 to -16) of human CMV reportedly drove expression of the transgene in non-neuronal tissures as well as in neuronal tissues including the cortex, hippocampus, thalamus, spinal cord, retina, olfactory bulb, and cerebellum. Line A produces lower expression of the light chain transgene than line B. (J:79946)

Notes
Founder lines A and B were generated. Expression was reported to be higher in line A than line B.

Double transgenic mice expressing both light and heavy chains of the alphaD11 antibody were generated by breeding mice harboring this transgene with mice carrying Tg(CMV-IghvaD11)CCat.
