Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markersJ:68174A genome wide scan was performed using female animals from a (C57BL/6J x C3Hf/Kam)F2 cross to uncover loci involved in radiation-induced apoptosis of jejunal crypt cells. 159 markers at an average spacing spacing of 10 cM were used in the genome scan. Rapop5, a QTL involved in radiation-induced apoptosis of jejunal cells, mapped to mouse Chromosome 15 with a peak LOD score of 3.35 between markers D15Mit100 and D15Mit17. C57BL/6J animals show higher levels of cellular apoptosis compared to C3Hf/Kam animals, either with or without exposure to low-dose radiation. In addition, seven different strains carrying recombinations in Chromosome 15 were constructed by a series of (C57BL/6J x C3Hf/Kam) x C3Hf/Kam backcrosses to confirm and localize Rapop5. Rapop5 wasconfirmed and localized to a region on Chromosome 15 between markers D15Mit175 and D15Mit71 . Four QTLs influencing radiation-induced apoptosis in thymus cells, Rapop1 (chromosome 16), Rapop2 (Chromosome 9), Rapop3 (Chromosome 3), and Rapop4 (Chromosome 11), were previously mapped using the same cross. |
