origin
Strain of Origin:  (C57BL/6J x C3H)F1
Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Inserted expressed sequence)
Mutation:    Insertion

Mutation detailsThe transgene was constructed by insertion of a viral SRC cDNA sequence from the Schmidt-Ruppin strain into exon 1 of GFAP. The GFAP promoter drives expression of the transgene in astrocytes of the brain. RT-PCR analysis of brain RNA from transgenic animals confirmed expression of the transgene. Transgene expression was also detected in lung, thymus, spleen, and gonads. (J:40335)

Notes
Three transgenic lines were established. Lines src1 and src2 carry 5 and 32 copies, respectively, of the full-length SRC sequence whereas line src3 carries 8 copies of a 3' truncated SRC sequence.
