Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:32015

In order to isolate a locus linked to body length (Bdln) in mice, authors typed progeny of a BSB [(C57BL/6J x M. spretus)F1 x M. spretus] interspecific backcross using quantitative trait analysis. 252 mice were typed for 148 markers covering all chromosomes, except the Y Chromosome. Significant association of body length with several linked markers on the X Chromosome, specifically in the area between markers DXMit57 and DXUcla2 was found. A

peak LOD of 5.5 (with data from both sexes) was found at the DXMit73 locus. Male and female mice of the M. spretus genotype at the DXMit73 locus had approximately 4% and 3.5% increases respectively in body length as compared to mice of the C57BL/6J genotype.
