Mutation details: Exon 1 was disrupted by the insertion of a neomycin selection cassette. The 3' splice donor site of intron 1 was deleted and translation from either of the putative start codons is expected to terminate after 61 residues. Neither normal transcript nor normal protein was detected by Northern and Western blot analyses of liver and kidney tissue obtained from homozygous mutant mice.
