Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:80597

214 (C57BL/6J-Cftrtm1Unc x BALB/cJ-Cftrtm1Unc)F2 animals were typed for 176 microsatellite markers to identify QTLs affecting cystic fibrosis-associated low body weight. Both parental strains exhibit reduced body weight (compared to wild type animals) that is not significantly different from each other, but body weight increases in the F2 generation. A QTL named Cfbw1 (cystic fibrosis body weight 1) mapped from 67 cM - 100 cM on mouse Chromosome 1 with a LOD score of 2.1 at D1Mit106 (85 cM). Cfbw1 ismale-specific with BALB/cJ-derived alleles exhibiting recessive inheritance. Cfbw2 mapped from 46.3 cM - 60.55 cM on mouse Chromosome 6 with a LOD score of 3.0 at D6Mit287 (49 cM). Cfbw2 is male-specific with BALB/cJ-derived alleles exhibiting recessive inheritance. Cfbw3 mapped from 42.6 cM - 60 cM on mouse Chromosome 7 with a LOD score of 2.5 at D7Mit238 (53 cM). BALB/cJ-derived alleles exhibit dominant inheritance at Cfbw3. Cfbw4 mapped to 29 cM - 69 cM on mouse Chromosome 10 with a LOD score of 2.2 atD10Mit180 (64 cM). Cfbw4 is female-specific with BALB/cJ-derived alleles exhibiting dominant inheritance. Cfbw5 mapped from 30 cM - 40 cM on mouse Chromosome 13 with a LOD score of 4.2 at D13Mit20 (35 cM). Cfbw5 is female-specific with BALB/cJ-derived alleles exhibiting dominant inheritance.
