Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:83649

228 animals from 26 AXB and BXA recombinant inbred (RI) strains were analyzed at 669 genetic loci to identify QTLs linked to cerebral ventricular size. Parental strain A/J exhibits a small ventricle compared to parental strain C57BL/6J.

A QTL named Vent1 mapped to an interval spanning 13 cM - 18 cM on mouse Chromosome 8. Vent1 reaches a peak LOD score of 4.1 between D8Mit94 and D8Mit189. C57BL/6J-derived alleles confer increased ventricular size at Vent1.

A highly significant (LRS=45.1) interaction was detected between D4Mit237 (13.3 cM) on mouse Chromosome 4 and D7Mit178 (0.5 cM) on mouse Chromosome 7. These loci were named Vent2 and Vent3, respectively. C57BL/6J-derived alleles at both Vent2 and Vent3 confers increased ventricle size. A possible candidate gene for Vent2 is Tgfbr1.
